How to Apply: International Students
STEP 1: PRE-ENROLMENT CONSULTATION AND ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Getting Started Before enrolling at VIVA Institute, it is essential for students to participate in a Pre-Enrolment Consultation. This consultation can be conducted with one of our approved Education Agents or designated VIVA Institute staff members.
During the Pre-Enrolment Consultation, prospective students will have the opportunity to engage in one or more sessions to gather additional information and time to make an informed decision. These consultations can take various forms, including face-to-face meetings, video conferences, telephone calls, or email exchanges.
During this, you will also have to check that you met the entry requirements set by VIVA Institute. While enrolments will be accepted on a case-by-case basis, our general entry requirements are as follows:
- Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencement; and
- Demonstrate the attainment of at least ACSF level 3 by successful completion of Australian
Year 12 qualification, or equivalent; and, if overseas equivalent,
- Minimum IELTS score of 5.5 or PTE score of 42 or Certificate III in EAL, or equivalent.
Alternatively, students may demonstrate LLN levels by undertaking VIVA Institute’s ASCF LLN Assessments.
Step 2: Enrollment Application and Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement
All prospective students are required to complete and send their completed student enrolment form. Make sure that you also submit the supporting documents necessary for your chosen course. Supporting documents are-
- Passport
- Visa (if applicable)
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) (if applicable)
- Year 12 Certificate or equivalent
- Academic records (Test amur, Statement of Attainment or Academic Transcript)
- Proof of English language proficiency
- Other supporting documents (if applicable)
In the student application form, you will also need to write a General Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement in English and provide supporting documents that show you meet the genuine temporary entrant (GTE) requirement.
For details on what to include in your statement of purpose and what documents to provide, visit the Department of Home Affairs website.
Step 3: Application Assessment
Upon receiving your application, our admission team will assess your credentials if they meet the course entry requirements. The Admissions Office will assess the application and may request additional documents such as:
- Additional questions and information that relate to your application.
- Financial Evidence. The Institute reserves the right to ask applicants to present evidence of funds subject to assessment of the application. The amount of fund that needs to be evidenced can be calculated by the following calculator: https://costofliving.studyaustralia.gov.au/
Step 4: Letter of Offer
If you qualify, your application will be processed, and the admission team will issue you an Offer Letter and Student Agreement. In some cases, our team members may contact you for clarifications, verifications, submission of additional documents, or provide advice for more suitable options.
Step 5: Acceptance of Offer
Carefully review your Offer Letter and Student Agreement. Please check if you are happy with the course details. Read through all the policies and procedures before accepting the offer. Once you send through a signed copy of the letter of offer, stating your acceptance you then move to another stage.
Detailed information about each qualification can be found on the respective course pages on our website. Should you require any further assistance or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Enrolments Team at info@viva.edu.au or reach out to your Education Agent and/or VIVA Institute Representative.

Step 6: Payment for enrolment
You are required to pay the initial tuition, material, and enrolment fees to finalize your enrolment. You can find information on fees in your offer letter.
Step 7: Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is a document that will be issued by VIVA Institute that verifies your enrolment in a course. The CoE will be sent to you after you have accepted your Letter of Offer and paid your initial fees.
You must include a copy of your CoE in your student visa application so that the Australian Government has proof that you are registered in your declared course.
Step 8: OSHC
As an international student in Australia, you must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of your stay.
If you do not provide proof that you have this insurance, your student visa application will be refused.
OSHC will help you:
- pay for medical or hospital care while studying in Australia,
- pay for most prescription medicines, and
- provide you with ambulance cover in emergencies.
While organizing your health cover, also make sure you order an OSHC card for use at doctor appointments while you are living in Australia.
Step 9: Apply using ImmiAccount/Registered Migration Agent
The Department of Home Affairs website outlines all the requirements for a student visa. You apply online using ImmiAccount.
You do not need an agent to lodge a student visa application. If you want professional immigration assistance with your visa application, use a registered migration agent or a legal practitioner.
Only certain people can give immigration assistance in Australia. An education agent is someone who can assist you with your options for studying in Australia. An education agent who is not a registered migration agent or a legal practitioner and cannot lawfully give you immigration assistance in Australia.
You can use the document checklist to check the documents needed for the visa application.

More information on who can provide immigration assistance is on the Home Affairs website.
Step 10: Health requirement and Biometrics (if living outside Australia)
The Australian Government requires all international students to be in good health before entering the country. As a result, you may need to undergo a health examination to meet the student visa health requirement. You will also need to provide your biometric data by scheduling an appointment if you reside overseas.
Step 11: Character requirement
There are also certain character requirements that you must meet if you want to study in Australia. In your application, you will have to answer some basic questions about your character and past conduct. In some cases, you may need to provide a police background check.
Step 12: Check Visa Conditions and travel requirements
Once you have been granted your student visa, you need to familiarize yourself with the visa requirements and conditions. You can find the visa conditions on top of the grant letter.
You can stay up to date with the latest travel requirements by visiting https://www.studyaustralia.gov.au/en.
Step 13: Confirmation of Arrival
Upon receiving your visa grant notification, please inform VIVA Institute’s Admissions team of your intended arrival date. This will help us prepare for your arrival and ensure that you receive proper assistance upon reaching Australia.
Step 14: Attend Orientation
Participate in the orientation program scheduled for new international students. The orientation will provide essential information about the institute, its facilities, your course, and student support services. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow students.
After your orientation session, complete the formal enrolment process by visiting the Admissions or Enrolment office. You will receive assistance in enrolling in your subjects and creating your timetable. Ensure you have your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), passport, and visa documents ready.
